A ramp for Nyambura: volunteers and tools needed
Help Nyambura regain independence: a simple ramp build.
🇰🇪 Nairobi, Kenya1,179 views
Nyambura has used a wheelchair since 2024, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Nyambura can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair.
The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two.
The ramp has to meet the accessibility guideline for gradient, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate eight hours of work.
Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Nyambura's family will cook lunch for the team.
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
- effort
- one weekend
- format
- In person in Kasarani
- skills
- carpentry, measuring, power tools

Wishing you peace, Lilian. Gave what I could, wish it was more. I'm in social work myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Blessings.
Rooting for you, Lilian. Looking forward to the next update. My neighbor in Durban donated after I showed her your page!
Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. It's not much but it's yours. Love from Moscow.
Best of luck. Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 7 years ago and strangers helped me out
