A ramp for Gabriela: volunteers and tools needed

Gabriela uses a wheelchair and can't leave the house because of three steps at the door; we need a few hours of carpentry.

Gabriela has used a wheelchair since 2025, and the house has three steps at the front door and no ramp. At the moment Gabriela can only go outside when two neighbors are available to lift the chair. The materials (treated timber, screws and non-slip surface) have been donated by a local lumberyard. We need a carpenter or two to measure, cut and build, plus a helper or two. The ramp has to meet the local accessibility standard of 1:12 slope, which is why a person with building experience is important. We estimate twelve hours of work. Tools are welcome - saws, drills, spirit levels. We'll provide refreshments, and Gabriela's family will cook lunch for the team. I hope life is good to you.

  • Sending good thoughts. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Thinking of Xalapa.

    • Thinking of you and your family, Yolanda. Shared it with a few friends. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
