For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Sycamore bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,700. It will serve about 380 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,700 goes: • Materials: $2,000 • Permits and inspections: $135 • Safety equipment and signage: $310 • Tools hire and delivery: $255 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

Thank you. If you're in Tokyo I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Let me know if you want more detail.

  • Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. I have a 10 year old who wants to send good wishes too. Thinking of Tokyo

    • Wishing you peace, Noboru. Great idea, hope you get there. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry

      • Wishing you peace. It takes guts to ask. Well done. I have a 7 year old who wants to send good wishes too. All the best.

        • Sending good thoughts. Gave what I could, wish it was more. We're a small family in Mumbai but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Tokyo.
