A rainwater harvesting system for the old Sycamore bus depot: help our neighbors in Epe
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the old Sycamore bus depot that will serve 121 neighbors.
🇳🇬 Epe, Lagos, Nigeria1,220 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Sycamore bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 121 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $320
• Permits and inspections: $20
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
