A rainwater harvesting system for the old Lotus bus depot: help our neighbors in Springfield
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $1,750 for materials.
🇺🇸 Illinois, United States519 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Lotus bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $1,750.
It will serve about 399 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in June and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $1,750 goes:
• Materials: $1,400
• Safety equipment and signage: $185
• Permits and inspections: $165
I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
