A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Surat
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $350 for materials.
🇮🇳 Surat, Gujarat, India1,255 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 9 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Park, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 339 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $165
• Permits and inspections: $60
• Safety equipment and signage: $20
• Tools hire and delivery: $105
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.
