A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Phoenix
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the old Cedar bus depot that will serve 600 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Cedar bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $4,450.
It will serve about 600 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $4,450 goes:
• Materials: $3,550
• Permits and inspections: $210
• Safety equipment and signage: $410
• Tools hire and delivery: $280
Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
