A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in New York
Volunteers in New York are raising $4,850 for a rainwater harvesting system at the Liberty health centre yard.

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 8 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Liberty health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $4,850.
It will serve about 253 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $4,850 goes:
• Materials: $3,600
• Permits and inspections: $390
• Safety equipment and signage: $420
• Tools hire and delivery: $440
