A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Mysuru
A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at the Cedar health centre yard that will serve 408 neighbors.
Anywhere in the world163 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $150.
It will serve about 408 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $150 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $70
• Safety equipment and signage: $50
• Permits and inspections: $30

Thinking of you and your family, Vasanthi. This could happen to any of us. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.
Take care. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. My daughter saw me on my phone and now she wants to give her pocket money. God bless!
Take care. Great idea, hope you get there. Greetings from Gaziantep.
