A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Likoni
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $650 for materials.
🇰🇪 Kenya1,050 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 28 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Jacaranda bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 259 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $650 goes:
• Materials: $480
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Safety equipment and signage: $75
• Tools hire and delivery: $60
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Take care. Looking forward to the next update. My neighbor in Mumbai donated after I showed her your page.
