A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Gwagwalada
Volunteers in Gwagwalada are raising $350 for a rainwater harvesting system at the Union vacant lot.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $350.
It will serve about 354 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $350 goes:
• Materials: $200
• Permits and inspections: $40
• Safety equipment and signage: $60
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
Every share and every dollar helps.
