A community-led a rainwater harvesting system at Freedom Park that will serve 209 neighbors.
Anywhere in the world490 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Park, but no funding.
We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $650.
It will serve about 209 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $650 goes:
• Materials: $430
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Safety equipment and signage: $80
• Tools hire and delivery: $90
Glad we found this place.
