A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Depok
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a rainwater harvesting system - we need $300 for materials.
🇮🇩 Depok, West Java, Indonesia831 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 30 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Maple community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $300.
It will serve about 538 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $300 goes:
• Materials: $160
• Permits and inspections: $35
• Safety equipment and signage: $35
• Tools hire and delivery: $70
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
