A rainwater harvesting system: a volunteer-led effort in Allentown
Volunteers in Allentown are raising $3,150 for a rainwater harvesting system at the old Pioneer bus depot.
🇺🇸 United States775 views
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a rainwater harvesting system. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Pioneer bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $3,150.
It will serve about 444 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in April and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,150 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $260
• Materials: $2,700
• Safety equipment and signage: $190
I'll pay this kindness forward the moment I'm able to.

Sending love, Eduardo. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. We had a similar scare last year, I know what it feels like.
Keep going, Eduardo. Your post was clear and honest. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
Praying for you, Eduardo. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. Please keep us posted. Greetings from San Nicolás de los Garza
