A playground for the old Sycamore bus depot: help our neighbors in Newcastle upon Tyne

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a playground - we need $3,450 for materials.

Newcastle upon Tyne
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a playground. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Sycamore bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated a pump, and the remaining cost is $3,450. It will serve about 373 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $3,450 goes: • Materials: $2,550 • Permits and inspections: $200 • Safety equipment and signage: $370 • Tools hire and delivery: $330 With deep gratitude, Willow

Updates from Willow

  1. Update from Newcastle upon Tyne: I met with the suppliers and confirmed the amounts. We're at 53% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. Thank you all. We're at 21% now ($735). I'm honestly stunned. we've booked the dates and paid the deposit.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($414 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
