My brother Joshua has been accepted for treatment at Birmingham Transplant Centre in Birmingham, starting on Tuesday in October. We live 236 km away in a town in the north, and hotel costs would use up what we have set aside for the treatment itself. We're looking for a room, granny flat or short-term rental within about 30 minutes of the hospital, for 4 weeks. Two of us would stay: Joshua and me. We can contribute $130 a week and cook for the household if you'd like. Joshua will have some immune precautions, so a clean, smoke-free place would be ideal. A kitchen is a bonus. Thank you. Thanks for being kind about this.

Stay strong, Eugene. Hope the treatment goes smoothly and recovery is quick. Greetings from Auckland

    • Sending good thoughts, Eugene. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected

      • Sending good thoughts. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. It's not much but it's yours. All the best!

        • Thinking of you, Eugene. It takes guts to ask. Well done. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double.

          • Stay strong. I work in healthcare and wanted you to know people are on your side. I'm in public service myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Thinking of Birmingham.
