My family left Yemen 10 months ago after we were targeted for our work. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Toronto. We're a family of five and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in October. I was an electrician in Yemen, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $4,100 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $1,900 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $1,150 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $500 • Language classes and bus passes: $350 • Phone and internet for school and job search: $200 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it. - Meena

  • Best of luck, Meena. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Put this on a community board in George this morning

    • Hang in there. I hope things turn around soon. I'm in nursing myself and wanted you to know we're cheering for you. Love from Jessore.

      • keep going. Gave what I could, wish it was more. After 29 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything.

        • Wishing you peace. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Love from Konya.
