A free library and reading room for the old Union bus depot: help our neighbors in Kadıköy

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Union bus depot, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,100. It will serve about 299 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $1,100 goes: • Materials: $900 • Permits and inspections: $40 • Safety equipment and signage: $40 • Tools hire and delivery: $120 Thank you so much. - Ecrin
