A free library and reading room for the old Liberty bus depot: help our neighbors in Fresno
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a free library and reading room - we need $1,850 for materials.
🇺🇸 Fresno, California, United StatesPosted Oct 1, 20261,455 views
For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Liberty bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,850.
It will serve about 436 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,850 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $220
• Materials: $1,400
• Tools hire and delivery: $230
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Sending love, Greyson. Hope you get there. My neighbor in Warri donated after I showed her your page.
Hope things get better soon. Gave what I could, wish it was more. My husband and I read this together. Love from Calamba.
Thanks for sharing this. Great idea, hope you get there. After 25 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
