A free library and reading room for the Freedom health centre yard: help our neighbors in San Diego
Volunteers in San Diego are raising $2,000 for a free library and reading room at the Freedom health centre yard.
🇺🇸 United States1,158 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom health centre yard, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $2,000.
It will serve about 494 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $250
• Tools hire and delivery: $530
• Materials: $1,220
Whatever you can give, even just sharing this page, means a lot.

Rooting for you, Owen. It takes guts to ask. Well done.
Hope you get there. We're a small family in Narayanganj but we're thinking of you.
You're not alone. Shared it with a few friends. Greetings from Veracruz.
