A free library and reading room for the Cedar community hall: help our neighbors in Kingston
A community-led a free library and reading room at the Cedar community hall that will serve 567 neighbors.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 13 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Cedar community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $280, and the remaining cost is $750.
It will serve about 567 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $750 goes:
• Materials: $500
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Safety equipment and signage: $130
• Tools hire and delivery: $70

Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. materials comes first ($500) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. Fair thing to want to know.
