A community-led a free library and reading room at the Acacia health centre yard that will serve 389 neighbors.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $2,600. It will serve about 389 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,600 goes: • Materials: $2,050 • Permits and inspections: $230 • Safety equipment and signage: $320 Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.
