A free library and reading room for Pioneer Park: help our neighbors in Pittsburgh
A community-led a free library and reading room at Pioneer Park that will serve 467 neighbors.

For five years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Park, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $3,650.
It will serve about 467 people, including local farmers and market traders. We'll hold a build day in May and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $3,650 goes:
• Materials: $2,650
• Permits and inspections: $300
• Safety equipment and signage: $390
• Tools hire and delivery: $310

Updates from Kevin
Update from Pittsburgh: we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. We're at 9% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.
Good news. Because of your gifts ($240 in total) we've booked the dates and paid the deposit. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.
