A community-led a free library and reading room at the Lotus community hall that will serve 149 neighbors.

For eight years the neighborhood has asked for a free library and reading room. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Lotus community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $450.
It will serve about 149 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in February and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $450 goes:
• Materials: $330
• Permits and inspections: $25
• Safety equipment and signage: $45
• Tools hire and delivery: $50
Ask me anything below before you decide. I'd rather you were sure.
