A craniotomy for Julia: covering what insurance won't
After a deviated septum causing chronic infections, Julia was cleared for a craniotomy, but the bill is more than we can manage.

In November I was diagnosed with a deviated septum causing chronic infections. My surgeon at Saint Elizabeth Hospital recommended a craniotomy, and I have been placed on the schedule for March. The hospital's financial office gave me a written estimate of $6,000, and after what my employer's plan will pay, I'm still $3,000 short.
Doctors at Saint Elizabeth Hospital told me a deviated septum causing chronic infections will get worse without a craniotomy. I work as a security guard, and I have saved what I can, but the estimate of $6,000 is far beyond what I've.
Until the surgery I can't work full days, and my hours as a security guard have already been cut. Every week of waiting means more pain and a bigger risk.
The recovery period is expected to take about 8 weeks. I'll not be able to drive during that time, so this has become a financial emergency as well as a medical one.
