A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Saint Petersburg

For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom community hall, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $450. It will serve about 494 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in March and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $450 goes: • Tools hire and delivery: $180 • Safety equipment and signage: $155 • Permits and inspections: $115 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
