Embakasi
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 20 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Baobab vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $350. It will serve about 420 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $350 goes: • Materials: $210 • Permits and inspections: $55 • Safety equipment and signage: $55 • Tools hire and delivery: $30 If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.
