A covered market stall space: a volunteer-led effort in Chattogram
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a covered market stall space - we need $150 for materials.
Anywhere in the world500 views
For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a covered market stall space. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Acacia Park, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $150.
It will serve about 83 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $150 goes:
• Permits and inspections: $50
• Tools hire and delivery: $65
• Safety equipment and signage: $35

Can I help in a way that isn't money? I'm near Chattogram!
Thank you. If you're in Chattogram I'll say if something practical comes up. For now sharing this is great. Thanks, that means a lot.
So sorry you're going through this, Jahid. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Thinking of Chattogram.
A colleague of mine might know someone for this in Chattogram. I'll ask around and let you know
Best of luck. Reading this made my day a bit heavier but I'm glad I did. It's not much but it's yours.
