A computer science tutor for Zoey, 11, who's falling behind

Zoey is working hard on computer science but cannot afford a tutor; 1 hours a week until the SAT would help enormously.

My niece, Zoey, is 11 and in Year 10. Zoey loves school but computer science has been a struggle since the school was closed during the move. The SAT exam is in November. We can't afford a private tutor, and the school's free sessions are full. We're looking for a volunteer who could spend one or two hours a week, in person in Detroit or online, for about sixteen weeks. Zoey is polite, hardworking and eager. We have a quiet space and a laptop for online sessions. I'll always be at home for in-person sessions. If you're a teacher, student or professional who feels comfortable in computer science, you could change the course of Zoey's year. I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

  • Wishing you the best. Everyone deserves a bit of help sometimes. My father had a similar thing happen so this one hit home.

    • stay strong, Robert. Looking forward to the next update. Read this on the bus and kept thinking about it all day. Love from Lviv

      • good luck. It takes guts to ask. Well done. We're a small family in Atlanta but we're thinking of you. All the best!

        • Stay strong. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. I told my book club about it and three of them are giving too.
