A community garden for the old Freedom bus depot: help our neighbors in Manchester
Volunteers in Manchester are raising $2,000 for a community garden at the old Freedom bus depot.
🇬🇧 England, United Kingdom640 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 27 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the old Freedom bus depot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $2,000.
It will serve about 170 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered.
Where the $2,000 goes:
• Materials: $870
• Permits and inspections: $250
• Safety equipment and signage: $340
• Tools hire and delivery: $540
Thanks for being kind about this.
