A community garden for the Acacia community hall: help our neighbors in Southampton
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community garden - we need $1,700 for materials.
🇬🇧 England, United Kingdom490 views
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 24 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Acacia community hall, but no funding.
We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $1,700.
It will serve about 98 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $1,700 goes:
• Tools hire and delivery: $460
• Materials: $1,100
• Safety equipment and signage: $140
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.

I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Wish I lived closer to Leicester so I could bring a meal.
