Tel Aviv
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Pioneer Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $1,750. It will serve about 571 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in January and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $1,750 goes: • Materials: $1,250 • Tools hire and delivery: $180 • Permits and inspections: $320 Thank you for reading my story.

Updates from Orly

  1. Update from Tel Aviv: I made the first payment toward permits and inspections. We're at 15% of the goal. Thank you for believing in us.

  2. We're at 13% thanks to 7 of you. the first invoice got paid this week. More news soon.

  3. Good news. Because of your gifts ($80 in total) I made the first payment toward permits and inspections. Still a way to go but it feels less lonely.

Hope the build day goes well, wish I lived closer. Our whole street has been following this since the weekend.

Thanks for sharing this, Orly. Looking forward to the next update. I hope January is when things finally get easier. Thinking of Tel Aviv.

Thanks for sharing this, Orly. Projects like this are what make a place worth living in. After 19 years in nursing I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Take care.
