A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Guadalajara
We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community garden - we need $900 for materials.
🇲🇽 Mexico1,452 views
For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 14 volunteers, including local mothers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $900.
It will serve about 576 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $900 goes:
• Materials: $580
• Tools hire and delivery: $160
• Safety equipment and signage: $160
Every share and every dollar helps.
