A community garden: a volunteer-led effort in Gazipur

Volunteers in Gazipur are raising $300 for a community garden at Freedom Primary School.

Gazipur
For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 15 volunteers, including a group of teenagers, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Freedom Primary School, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $300. It will serve about 415 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $300 goes: • Materials: $230 • Permits and inspections: $15 • Safety equipment and signage: $30 • Tools hire and delivery: $25 If you're reading this, thank you. - Jannat
