For ten years the neighborhood has asked for a community garden. This year a group of 18 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Freedom health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,850. It will serve about 243 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in December and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $2,850 goes: • Materials: $1,900 • Permits and inspections: $105 • Safety equipment and signage: $250 • Tools hire and delivery: $595 You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.
