A community fridge for the Sycamore vacant lot: help our neighbors in Galle
A community-led a community fridge at the Sycamore vacant lot that will serve 279 neighbors.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 11 volunteers, including a retired civil engineer, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore vacant lot, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $600.
It will serve about 279 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $600 goes:
• Materials: $450
• Permits and inspections: $75
• Safety equipment and signage: $60
• Tools hire and delivery: $15
