A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Verona
Volunteers in Verona are raising $2,750 for a community fridge at Maple Primary School.

For three years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Maple Primary School, but no funding.
We have received donated tools, and the remaining cost is $2,750.
It will serve about 329 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited.
We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos.
All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance.
Where the $2,750 goes:
• Safety equipment and signage: $185
• Materials: $2,400
• Permits and inspections: $165
