A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Santa Fe

We have the land, the volunteers and the plan for a community fridge - we need $2,100 for materials.

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 12 volunteers, including the parish youth group, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for Lotus Park, but no funding. We have received donated timber, and the remaining cost is $2,100. It will serve about 168 people, including school children and their families. We'll hold a build day in October and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $2,100 goes: • Materials: $1,500 • Permits and inspections: $140 • Tools hire and delivery: $460 I'll keep this page updated with receipts as things happen.
