A community fridge: a volunteer-led effort in Fresno

For twelve years the neighborhood has asked for a community fridge. This year a group of 25 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Harmony health centre yard, but no funding. We have received donated paint, and the remaining cost is $4,950. It will serve about 372 people, including elderly neighbors living alone. We'll hold a build day in August and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $4,950 goes: • Materials: $3,800 • Permits and inspections: $230 • Safety equipment and signage: $380 • Tools hire and delivery: $540 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly. - Fernando
