I'm Lavanya, 17, in Form 6. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study biomedical science. I have a distinction average, I volunteer at my mosque and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work. I'm looking for an hour a week until November. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request. Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask. Thank you for reading my story.

Hope things get better soon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I hope November is when things finally get easier. Blessings.

        • Thinking of you and your family, Lavanya. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn.

          • Wishing you the best. Good luck with the exams, you've got this. I have a 15 year old who wants to send good wishes too. All the best.
