A college application mentor for Hazel, first in the family to apply
Looking for a graduate who can spend an hour a week reviewing Hazel's essays until November.

I'm Hazel, 18, in Form 6. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study journalism.
I have a top-of-class average, I volunteer at a food pantry and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work.
I'm looking for an hour a week until November. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request.
Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask.
You're what makes this possible, and I'll never forget it.

I was nervous about reaching out, but this person made me feel comfortable and supported from the very first interaction. Their help was invaluable.

Sending love. As a teacher I love seeing someone work this hard to learn. This is the second need I've supported on here and the first that made me cry. Greetings from Lahore.
