I'm Erik, 18, in Grade 12. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study computer science. I have a 3.7 average, I volunteer at an after-school program and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work. I'm looking for an hour a week until January. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request. Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask. If you can't give, please share this page. It does reach people.

            • Thanks for sharing this, Erik. Hope this works out for you. We lost years of savings to something like this so I get it. Take care.

              • Hope things get better soon, Erik. Good luck with the exams, you've got this. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. All the best.

                  • Take care. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. My late mom used to say help given quietly counts double. Greetings from Anaheim.
