A college application mentor for Denise, first in the family to apply
Looking for a graduate who can spend an hour a week reviewing Denise's essays until November.

I'm Denise, 19, in Grade 12. My parents work long hours and didn't go to university, so there's no one at home who can help me understand applications, deadlines or financial aid. I'd like to study biomedical science.
I have a distinction average, I volunteer at an after-school program and I have a draft of my personal statement. What I need is someone to read my essays, tell me honestly what's weak, and explain how scholarships work.
I'm looking for an hour a week until November. We can do it by video from anywhere. My mother will be at home during every call, and the school counselor knows about this request.
Thanks for reading. It took me a long time to ask.
Thank you for reading my story.

Praying for you. I hope things turn around soon. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected. Greetings from Iztapalapa.
Best of luck, Denise. This could happen to any of us.
