Every year the Refugee Welcome Picnic brings together 188 neighbors in Laredo. I help organize it with 11 other volunteers, and this year our numbers are down.
We need people for stewarding, first-aid support and clean-up. Shifts are four hours long and you can pick the one that suits you. Food and drinks are provided for all volunteers.
It's a fun day for all ages, and our goal is to keep it free. No experience is necessary - we'll brief everyone at the start of the day.
If you can come with a friend, even better. Please say in the comments which shift works for you.
Even a small gift gets used right away and I'll thank you myself.

Hope things get better soon. More neighborhoods should do this. We're a small family in Istanbul but we're thinking of you. Thinking of Laredo
Your post was clear and honest. I went through something like this 3 years ago and strangers helped me out. God bless!
So sorry you're going through this, Sadie. Hope you get there. Don't lose heart. A few weeks ago I was in a hole too and it changed faster than I expected.
Your post was clear and honest. After 10 years in construction I know how hard it's to ask for anything. Thinking of Laredo.
sending strength, Sadie. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier.
