Weekly meals for families facing hunger in Wrocław
Justyna runs a volunteer pantry feeding 243 families; this fund restocks shelves for the winter.

Since 2022, our volunteer team has run Open Hands Pantry every Tuesday from the back of the parish hall. We started with 25 families, and now we feed 243 each week.
Donations have dropped by about 55% this winter, while the line has grown every single week.
We rely on volunteers - 17 of us - and keep no salaries or overhead. I buy staples at wholesale prices at the Wrocław market and keep every receipt.
Each $15 feeds a family of four for a week.
All of the funds go to groceries, fresh produce, and cold-storage costs.
Where the $1,150 goes:
• Rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale): $450
• Fresh vegetables and fruit: $470
• Baby formula and diapers: $140
• Refrigeration and electricity: $90

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Justyna.
Sure. The biggest one is rice, beans, flour and oil (wholesale), $450. The rest is in the list at the bottom of the post and I'll upload receipts as I pay each one. Good question.
