I'm caring for my father, who's 93. After a diagnosis of dementia Uri can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Uri desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 25 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Uri worked all of his life as a shopkeeper, and raised 2 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $4,700 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $3,350
• Medication and prescriptions: $650
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $310
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $390

Is there a list of costs somewhere? Just curious how it adds up for Uri.
Everything on the list is an amount I've been quoted or invoiced. part-time carer (six months) comes first ($3,350) and I'll update the page as each thing gets paid. It helps to be asked.
