For five years the neighborhood has asked for a sensory garden for children with autism. This year a group of 21 volunteers, including the neighborhood football club, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Union community hall, but no funding. We have received donated volunteer hours worth about $1,300, and the remaining cost is $2,450. It will serve about 325 people, including young people who have nowhere safe to play. We'll hold a build day in September and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. All purchases will be made by two volunteers and logged publicly. Surplus funds will go to maintenance. Where the $2,450 goes: • Materials: $1,600 • Permits and inspections: $160 • Safety equipment and signage: $410 • Tools hire and delivery: $280 Every share and every dollar helps. - Brandon

This is what community support looks like. They didn't just offer generic advice; they provided personalized help tailored to my specific situation.

Rooting for you. I hope things turn around soon. My neighbor in Mississauga donated after I showed her your page. God bless

    • You're not alone, Brandon. It takes guts to ask. Well done. Take care.

      • Rooting for you, Brandon. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. I hope September is when things finally get easier. Take care.
