Kampala
My family left Syria 8 months ago after the conflict closed our school and clinic. We spent time in a camp before we were resettled in Kampala. We're a family of eight and we're safe, but we arrived with very little. Our resettlement agency has provided 4 months of rent, and that support ends in October. I was a farmer in Syria, and I'm studying the language every evening. Our daughter and son have started school and are doing well. We want nothing more than to be self-sufficient. This fund will help us through the first six months. All purchases will be documented and photos shared (with the family's consent). Where the $550 goes: • Rent deposit and first month: $340 • Language classes and bus passes: $45 • Winter clothing and school supplies: $50 • Beds, table and basic furniture: $115 I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support. - Githinji

  • Hang in there. I've been in a tough spot myself and it does get easier. Love from Bornova.
