Howrah
For five years the neighborhood has asked for a repair café workshop. This year a group of 17 volunteers, including two retired carpenters, decided to stop waiting. The council has given permission for the Sycamore vacant lot, but no funding. We have received donated soil and plants, and the remaining cost is $200. It will serve about 353 people, including children, seniors and people with disabilities. We'll hold a build day in November and everyone is invited. We're a small team, and every dollar will be spent in the open - I'll post receipts and progress photos. Funds are spent only on materials, permits and safety equipment; all labor is volunteered. Where the $200 goes: • Materials: $125 • Safety equipment and signage: $20 • Permits and inspections: $55 Please ask me anything in the questions section. I'll answer honestly and quickly.
