I'm caring for me, who's 95. After the death of his spouse Russell can no longer manage alone. A nursing home would cost far more than we have, and Russell desperately wants to stay at home.
I work 50 hours a week and have cut back to look after him, but we need a part-time carer.
Russell worked all of his life as a bus driver, and raised 4 children. Now we're trying to give some of that care back.
Medication, a hospital bed and a carer for six months will make a huge difference.
Funds cover the carer's wages, medicines, a hospital bed rental and incontinence supplies.
Where the $4,000 goes:
• Part-time carer (six months): $2,900
• Medication and prescriptions: $560
• Hospital bed and mattress rental: $240
• Mobility aids and bathroom adaptations: $300
I never thought I'd be the one asking, and I'm grateful for every bit of support.
